Lost Language
These are works from a series entitled “Lost Language” in which I am exploring the complicated connections that I find among scripts of lost languages, ancient universal symbols, palimpsests, codices, and books as cultural objects, all infused with human miscommunications and the odd, conflicting voices of human dementia. For me, these are mysteriously entwined—text, texture, and textile—marks and stories, the real, the unreal, the indecipherable. In the works, I layer marks, texts, and symbols to suggest time, memory, and the vagaries of human communication. I interpret them through the stitched marks of my hand.
